Ways to Lose Instagram Followers

Ways to Lose Instagram Followers

Here we’ll take a look at the top five things which can lose you Instagram followers. I know it happens, because I’ve personally lost followers myself when I did exactly what I’m about to explain to you.

Personal Standpoints

These can be one of the fastest ways you can lose followers, and you should never post anything which is political, religious, or anything which people will side on, argumentatively speaking. It can be something as simple as “what is the best football team?” But because people have opinions, and they don’t like being placed in a situation where they have to choose, it is far better to remain neutral, as much as possible. In this way, no one needs to take sides or take offense and unfollow you because of it.

Posting Multiple Pictures

You should only aim to post pictures every few hours because followers become annoyed when the same person posts picture after picture. It seems strange when Instagram is all about displaying images, but that’s the way it is. To be safe, and to make sure you don’t lose followers, post images or videos in no less than three-hour intervals.

Reply to Comments

If a person says something nice about one of your posts, you should forget just liking their comments as it doesn’t look very good. Actually, because they have taken the time to write something about your post, the least you can do is make the time and reply in the same manner. Respect goes a long way and is definitely a two-way street. There is another plus (aside from being courteous), and this is that your reply makes two comments, and if you ask them a question, they will respond, which increases the number again.

Reply to a DM

When a person takes the trouble to DM (direct message) you, you should take the time to DM them back. If it seems your messages are dragging on, be sure not to reply with a question because this will encourage them to respond back, multiple times. Reply to a comment to be polite and show that the conversation (for now) is over. Just make sure to reply the first time, though.

Low-Resolution Pictures

Never post low-quality pictures, you’ll lose followers because of this. And no one wants to look at pictures which make you look like a character from a 1980s video game! Or pictures that are so blurry it’s painful. All images should be high in quality and not purely a picture of yourself. Make them funky and exciting, so it sparks a viewer’s imagination.

To add to this, Instagram is full of pictures of models and people who are into photography, so followers are more likely to choose them over pixelated pictures, no matter who you are. And “that’s just the way the cookie crumbles” at this moment in time. Remember, knowledge is power. When you have knowledge you have leverage.
